Durante el proceso de planificaci\u00f3n, mencion\u00e9 que estaba buscando l\u00edderes locales para formar parte de nuestro comit\u00e9 asesor, y ella me sugiri\u00f3 a James Harrison.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despu\u00e9s de esa primera reuni\u00f3n, me sent\u00ed muy agradecido de haber conocido a James. Su historia sobre la donaci\u00f3n de sangre y la importancia de esos productos para sus hijos fue tan conmovedora que supe que ten\u00edamos que tomar medidas en MEDIC. James y yo creamos una presentaci\u00f3n y, desde entonces, hemos hablado con m\u00faltiples organizaciones locales y grupos comunitarios.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>James y yo formamos un gran equipo. Voy a explicar la historia de MEDIC y por qu\u00e9 donar es importante para todos. A continuaci\u00f3n, James hablar\u00e1 sobre su familia y sobre c\u00f3mo las transfusiones de sangre son fundamentales para controlar el dolor y mejorar la calidad de vida.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He aprendido mucho de James y de nuestros amigos de la Fundaci\u00f3n contra la Anemia Falciforme de Tennessee. Cada semana sigo aprendiendo m\u00e1s sobre la anemia falciforme y me siento muy afortunada de formar parte de esta iniciativa. Esto no solo es importante para m\u00ed como miembro del equipo MEDIC, sino tambi\u00e9n como madre de dos hijos. Har\u00eda cualquier cosa por ellos y, sin duda, abogar\u00eda por un tratamiento si tuvieran una enfermedad cr\u00f3nica sin cura.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Esto me lleva al presente y a #OneDadCan. Soy corredor y defensor de toda la vida del running y los estilos de vida saludables. Cuando James me llam\u00f3 con la idea, me emocion\u00e9 much\u00edsimo. Formo parte del Comit\u00e9 Organizador del Marat\u00f3n Covenant Health Knoxville desde la segunda edici\u00f3n del evento. Y, a modo de aclaraci\u00f3n, deben saber que mi esposo es el director del Marat\u00f3n Covenant Health Knoxville.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El compromiso de James con la salud y el bienestar, correr la media marat\u00f3n y tener el objetivo de 10,000 donaciones es muy emocionante. Hemos tenido un buen comienzo y creo que podremos alcanzar ese objetivo antes del 7 de abril.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>James no est\u00e1 pidiendo dinero (aunque la investigaci\u00f3n sobre la anemia falciforme no cuenta con fondos suficientes). Lo que pide es que dones productos sangu\u00edneos ahora y en el futuro. Donar sangre completa solo te llevar\u00e1 una hora de tu tiempo. Esa hora de tu tiempo le dar\u00e1 m\u00e1s tiempo a un paciente de la regi\u00f3n. Cada donaci\u00f3n prolonga o salva la vida de un paciente. Cada una de ellas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Estoy aumentando mi kilometraje para poder correr la media marat\u00f3n cerca del 7 de abril. Y estar\u00e9 en la meta el 7 de abril para animar a James.
