Blood is constantly in demand. Surgeries, serious injuries like car wrecks and different illnesses require patients to have blood transfusions. While the need never changes, blood banks’ inventory does. The fluctuations are most noticeable during the Summer months when people take vacations. The situation has been made more dire as the Covid-19 pandemic has created various challenges for the industry.
During this difficult time, MEDIC has partnered with several of its regional hospital partners to create a PSA urging donors to donate with MEDIC Regional Blood Center. “Now, more than ever, it’s important to donate with our local blood bank,” said Stephen Pacifico, M.D. of Blount Memorial Hospital. Currently, MEDIC is the primary blood product provider for 24 area hospitals in 22 counties.
