MEDIC Regional Blood Center is teaming up with the Knoxville Zoo to offer a great incentive to blood donors.
On Thursday, August 6th, anyone who donates at a MEDIC blood drive will receive a ticket for one free admission to the Knoxville Zoo. That’s in addition to receiving a coupon for a free Chick-fil-A Sandwich, a free Texas Roadhouse appetizer, and a MEDIC t-shirt.
The tickets are provided complimentary of the Knoxville Zoo to help encourage the community to donate blood.
Donors can give at any of these locations:
MEDIC Downtown Donor Center, 1601 Ailor Avenue, 8am-6:30
MEDIC Farragut Donor Center, 11000 Kingston Pike, 7:30am-7:00pm
Food City in Powell, 7350 Clinton Highway Noon-7pm
Food City in Jefferson City, 1507 Odell Drive, Noon-7pm
Fazolli’s Lafollette, 2449 Jacksboro Pike, Noon-7pm
First United Methodist Church, 3316 Kingston Pike, Noon-7pm
Norris Community Center, 20 Chestnut Drive, 9am-3pm
First Tennessee Bank Call Center, 6522 Chapman Highway, 8am-5pm
The Knoxville Zoo is also bringing some of their animal ambassadors to the Food City in Powell from Noon-2pm. Donors will get the opportunity to meet and have their pictures taken with some of the zoo’s great residents.
MEDIC blood donors will also have the opportunity to help the conservation efforts happening every day at the Knoxville Zoo.
During the month of August, donors can opt out of receiving a t-shirt. In exchange, MEDIC will donate the cost of the t-shirt to the zoo’s conservation programs including the world-renowned red pandas.
This partnership comes at a critical time for MEDIC. During the summer months, blood donations tend to drop off. Through the generosity of the Knoxville Zoo, Chick-fil-A, Texas Roadhouse, Tennessee Smokies, and others, MEDIC has been able to fulfill every order from our local hospitals this summer.
Donors must be 17 years old and weigh 110 lbs. Anyone with eligibility questions, can visit medicblood.org or call (865) 524-3074.
